Leading From The Second Chair

Every leader follows someone. For 27 years, I served in the "second chair" to three different leaders before "switching seats" and moving into the Lead Pastor Role. But even now, I still believe with all my heart that I remain in the "second chair." Jesus is THE Leader, and I serve Him— at His pleasure and for His glory.

I have read several books over the years about leading from the second chair, and some of those are listed below.

How to Lead When You're Not in Charge: Leveraging Influence When You Lack Authority
God's Armor Bearer Volumes 1 & 2: Serving God's Leaders
Leading from the Second Chair: Serving Your Church, Fulfilling Your Role, and Realizing Your Dreams

Second Chair Leadership: How To Serve, Thrive & Lead From Where You Play

In addition, Pastor Stephen Blandino wrote an insightful article in the Fall 2024 issue of Influence. You can read it here.
